International heavy-hitters, kings of the underground, soul, bass, house, electro…S.T.D.’s been bringing it all, delivered right to your doorstep at One Wulumuqi Lu. In doing so, we‘re often fishing overseas, importing talent from abroad (it is Shanghai after all). But this time we’re switching gears to bring you something homegrown, and even better, someone that ties it all together for us. Enter DJ Wordy.
Wordy is practically a household name for any music heads here in China. The man is the only 3X China DMC Champion and 1/2 of China’s pioneering DJ duo, WordySoulspeak. Best part is, he cut his teeth right here in the Middle Kingdom, and has since launched himself into the international limelight, making him not simply China’s top DJ but one of the best jockeys you’ll find anywhere around the globe.
As a turntablist, Wordy has achieved technical perfection, spinning a hodgepodge of genres with a style that takes complete command of the dancefloor. He’s a popular export, often dropping into New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Austria, Amsterdam, etc., and has headlined alongside an impressive list of talent including Q-Bert, Craze, Kentaro, Dam Funk, Cut Chemist, Kid Koala, Talib Kwelij, RZA, and many more.
It’s not the first time Wordy has taken the reins at Arkham, and if we’ve learned one thing from what he’s given us in the past, it’s that shit will get turnt up. Come to Arkham. Come unprotected.
