This August, we’re proud to present the original turntablist J.ROCC. The Southern California native has been DJing longer than most people have listened to electronic music.

J. Rocc is an icon for a rare breed of DJs these days: turntablists. He’s a veteran of scratching, cutting, and juggling vinyls; he invents sounds never heard before with the whip of his hand. It’s something of a lost art today, but with his crew the Beat Junkies, J. Rocc has been keeping turntablism alive.

The Beat Junkies are the original turntablist group, evolving with the times As hip hop DJs, they recognise and master the importance of balancing scratching with mixing songs and reading crowds. Founded by J. Rocc in ’92, the Beat junkies have been rocking parties with incomprehensible team routines for decades.

The beat-juggling maestro has been prolific both in groups and while flying solo. As an individual artist, he’s released numerous mixtapes and productions for record label Stones Throw, including his latest album Some Cold Rock Stuf’. Over the years, J. Rocc has also been the DJ for Madlib’s live show and was the third member of Jaylib all whilst leading the Beat Junkies.

8月29日，也就是八月的第5个周六， Beat Junkies主创、同时大名鼎鼎的DJ- J.Rocc受邀S.T.D与我们在乌鲁木齐路的地下世界相会。 
Beat Junkies成立于1992年，彼时适逢instrumental hip-hop茁壮成长的时候， 这个组合迅速成为其不容小觑的中坚力量。而作为其主创的J.Rocc，他的DJ身涯可以追溯到上个世纪80，是当今为数不多的Turntablist。除了不计其数的混音作品，从2000年起， J.Rocc一直担任Madlib的现场御用DJ，是Jaylib现场演出的第三位成员，同时更与Madlib合作制作了Beat Konducta Vol. 5-6: A Tribute To Dilla 。 
在Old School怀旧风潮刮得异常猛烈的今天，J.Rocc仿佛浑然天成似的抓住精髓，迅速点燃舞池。他一边游走在大小转盘与机器之间，一边大喊“original！”，掀起一场暴风雨般的音感极致之旅。
